Updated: Bulgaria Air with changes of its flight schedule
Dear passengers and partners,
As a national carrier, with responsibility to all its passengers, Bulgaria Air continues to operate most of its direct destinations. Routes that are not prohibited from flying by the state authorities such as Amsterdam, London, Paris, Brussels, Berlin, Frankfurt, Rome, Milan, Vienna, Prague, Zurich, Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga, Palma de Mallorca, Athens, Varna and others are accessible to all our passengers. The airline's ambition is to provide an opportunity for everyone to return to their home country if the pandemic has found them in another country.
From May 25 we operate two flights a day from Sofia to Varna (morning and evening), and from June 11-th we add another - a third (day) flight to the sea capital and back.
Due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic and all measures taken to control its spread, it is necessary to reduce some of the planned flights to some of the direct destinations of the airline, and to merge the other part. The measure is temporary and is being taken when most airlines are landing their planes and canceling all flights to Sofia.
The only destinations to which flights are temporarily suspended are those with temporary restrictions imposed by local authorities, namely:
Israel - the flights to Tel Aviv are cancelled until June 13-th.
Russia - all flights to the Russian Federation are cancelled until further notice.
Cyprus - the order to suspend flights to Cyprus is extended until June 8-th.
Portugal - the flights to Lisbon are cancelled until August 20-th.
You can see the issued Orders of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Bulgaria, as well as the introduced international restrictions - in the news section HERE.
The airline apologizes to all its passengers affected by the cancellations due to the spread of the coronavirus. Bulgaria Air takes care of all of them by providing them with a number of options to reschedule their airline tickets and with additional travel compliments. If you're among the passengers affected by the changes, see how you can plan your flight HERE, as well as in the Customer Support - General Information.
With regards to the COVID-19 spread, we would like to inform you that Bulgaria Air and the airport authorities have increased the hygiene measures and requirements for cleaning the aircrafts. Before and after each flight the passenger compartment and the sanitary facilities are cleaned especially thoroughly and treated with special detergents both by the airline and by the authorized sanitary staff of Sofia Airport. In the toilets of the airplanes are provided hot water, soap and disinfectants. The air quality in the airplanes is guaranteed by special HEPA filtration systems that provide continuous circulation of heat-treated air up to over 200 degrees, limiting the possible spread of any contagion by air.
From March 18 there will be only bottled mineral water on the flights performed by the National Carrier.
In addition, our crews are aware of all the recommendations of the World Health and International Aviation Authorities and are specially trained to act in case a COVID-19 infection is detected on board.
Thank you for your trust and for choosing Bulgaria Air as your safe and reliable carrier.
