Very soon, at Vasil Levski Airport in Sofia, we are going to witness something unseen in Bulgaria for the first time, we will be seeing a man attempt to pull Bulgaria Air's newest aircraft, the Airbus A220-300.
On November 4, at 1:00 p.m., on the airport apron two strong Bulgarians will face off against the passenger plane, which weighs nearly 40 tons. Each of them will face the challenge of pulling the multi-ton machine.
The Airbus A220-300 aircraft is one of the latest technological innovations in the national carrier's fleet. With higher efficiency and environmental performance, the new aircraft arrived in Bulgaria directly from the manufacturer's factory in Canada and weighs 36,287 kg without cargo, fuel, and passengers. Its total length is 38.7 meters. With fuel loaded, the weight of the Airbus A220-300 with registration LZ-LON, which will be parked on the airport apron on November 4, will reach nearly 40,000 kg. As a safety measure, there will be a technical person in the aircraft cabin to monitor and respond during the process.
The maximum speed of this type of aircraft is 870 km/h, and the maximum flight altitude is up to 12,496 m. The airline operates its regular domestic and international routes with seven new Airbus A220 aircraft.
Two Bulgarian weightlifters, members of the Strongman power sports federation, will embark on an epic challenge to overcome all known barriers in an attempt to pull the huge aircraft one after the other for a distance of up to 15 meters.
