A flight with a cause: Bulgaria Air in the heart of London
The middle lounge of the Diplomat's House of Culture - a stage reminiscent of an airplane cockpit, lights in blue, motor drive... and a sense of pride filling the air. So began the fourth event organised by the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in London, dedicated to Europe Day. Its focus was ‘22 years of Bulgaria Air - National Flag of the Republic of Bulgaria’.
‘Many of you know the name Bulgaria Air. For some, it is just an airport sign. For others, a flight home. Today we invite you to see it in another way - as a symbol of our national pride and a bridge between Bulgaria and the world." With these words the three ladies from the team of the national carrier Irina Peeva, senior sales and marketing expert, Gergana Mitova - expert in the marketing department, and Kristina Panayotova - representative of Bulgaria Air at Heathrow Airport, London, addressed the audience. They reminded that Bulgaria Air is not just the logo of the plane, but the carrier of the bulgarian identity in the air.
Not just an airline. Bulgaria in the air.
The event started with a strong visual and emotional impact - a combination of video, sound and stage presence that literally ‘shot’ the audience into the atmosphere of a trip with Bulgaria Air. The host of the event was actress Silvia Lulcheva, whose voice and presence turned the evening into a stage experience.
A new generation fleet and standards that do not compromise
During the event, the transformation of the airline - from a small carrier in 2002 to a modern European operator that not only stands up to competition, but sets standards - was presented to over 300 Bulgarians and foreigners. A key highlight was the renewal of the fleet with new next-generation aircraft, including the company's pride - the Airbus A220, which offers not only greater comfort and efficiency, but also up to 25% fewer harmful emissions.
‘We don't just fly planes - we fly with responsibility and confidence,’ the three ladies from the national carrier's team emphasised.
Destinations that connect Bulgaria to the world
With direct flights to over 20 European cities and a network of over 400 destinations through international partners, Bulgaria Air doesn't just offer routes - it offers independence and access to the world. The airline's charter services cover over 100 destinations a year and serve over 100,000 passengers - tourists, corporate clients, sports teams.
And the fact that Bulgaria Air is the only Bulgarian airline to land at London's prestigious Heathrow Airport is not only prestige, but a statement of class and international recognition.
‘From Balkan to Bulgaria Air’ - the story of a revival
The event continued with the premiere of the documentary ‘From Balkan to Bulgaria Air’, tracing the transformation from the successor airline of socialist Bulgaria to the modern national carrier. A story of inspiration, dedication and vision.
A message for the future
Krasimir Kiriakov - Chairman of the Commercial and Economic Section at the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria congratulated the team of Bulgaria Air, saying that this is not just a business, but a national cause.
The evening ended with a prize draw and lots of smiles - because for every passenger of Bulgaria Air this is not just a flight, but a feeling of home in the air. The event took place on May 8 at the Bulgarian Embassy in London and was part of a series of initiatives organized on the occasion of the Bulgarian Culture Month in the British capital.
