Baggage Allowance on Bulgaria Air Flights
All passengers of Bulgaria Air are entitled to free carriage of cabin baggage and checked baggage (in the luggage compartment of the airplane) depending on the chosen tariff. Free allowances for pieces and weight of baggage may vary depending on the travel class (business or economy) and the tariff on which the ticket has been issued. Baggage transportation on regular lines also conforms to some general rules and the policy of Bulgaria Air, which you should consider.
Baggage policy on flights operated by Bulgaria Air
Bulgaria Air introduces rules for baggage carriage on its destinations for all tickets, issued after May 2, 2011. The PIECE CONCEPT system is based on the quantity, weight and dimensions of the checked-in baggage.
Tariffs without checked baggage
Each passenger who bought a ticket in a tariff that includes only a hand baggage carriage, is allowed to transport in the cabin free baggage allowance as follows:

Fees for checked baggage carriage
First piece of checked baggage up to 23 kg and up to 158 cm *:
- Domestic flights – EUR 15 in direction
- International flights – EUR 20 in direction**
In case of heavier, above volumes or additional piece of checked baggage, the standard conditions of Bulgaria Air apply.
Checked baggage can be purchased before the flight at the airport or through the issuer of the ticket.
Possession of CCB Club card, Visa Platinum card from CCB, co-branded card from CCB and Bulgaria Air, and FLY MORE gold card does not entitle free checked baggage on tariff without baggage.

Each passenger who bought a ticket in a tariff that includes checked baggage, is allowed to transport in the luggage compartment of the airplane free baggage allowance as follows:

Infants 0-2 years of age | If the fare of theticket of the adult who is accompanying the baby allows 1 piecechecked baggage up to 23 kg, the baby is entitled to 1 piece checked baggage up to 10 kg. Transportation of baby carriages is free of charge, but it is mandatory to hand them over/to receive them immediately before embarkation / disembarkation of the aircraft. The aviation company shall not be responsible for damages resulting from transportation on baggage belts, in case the carriage has not been handed over/received at the aircraft. |

** If your tickets are paid in the company's website, as well as in the cases of: possession of gold card FLY MORE, membership in CCB Club, or tickets paid with co-branded card from CCB and Bulgaria Air or Visa Platinum card from CCB you need to contact us by phone +359 2 4020 400 or e-mail callfb@air.bg to reissue the ticket entitled to free 2 pieces of luggage.
*** In order to take advantage of our conditions for the transportation of seamen, the ticket must be issued at a special seaman fare. Possession of card CCB Club, Visa Platinum CCB, co-branded card from CCB and Bulgaria Air, and Gold Card FLY MORE does not entitle the additional free checked baggage on tariff without luggage.
The right to two pieces of luggage for holders of Gold Card FLY MORE and CCB Club and tickets paid with co-branded card CCB and Bulgaria Air and Visa Platinum card from CCB is only on flights where the operating carrier is Bulgaria Air.

Baggage with weight over 32 kg may only be carried as cargo.
In case the ticket entitles a free carriage of 2 pieces of checked baggage and the passenger carries 3 pieces of checked baggage - the third luggage is in the category " Extra piece – second bag up to 23 kg up to 158 cm".
Special categories of baggage
Sport equipment | Transportation of sport equipment is not included in the quota of checked baggage. It is charged as an extra piece of checked baggage EUR 50 in direction. The equipment must be of maximum weight and dimensions 23 kg and 203 cm* Exception: Free carriage of 1 piece of ski / snowboard equipment for all flights operated by Bulgaria Air. |
Bicycles | Accepted for carriage in special packaging (cardboard or a special case). Maximum size of package 160 х 90 х 25 cm This service requires pre-confirmation in the reservation. International flights: EUR 70 in direction. Domestic flights: EUR 30 in direction. |
Firearms | Carriage of firearms and ammunition is carried out according to the requirements of the International Air Transport Association /IATA/. It is not confirmed on codeshare flights of Bulgaria air. Carriage of firearms and ammunition other than sport weapons and ammunition is prohibited. In some cases, carriage of firearms and ammunition for hunting and sporting purposes may be permitted. The passenger should contact Bulgaria Air and provide information on the type of weapon, its serial number and the ammunition, which will be entered into the reservation system. All firearms and ammunition will be accepted only as baggage and must be transported in the luggage compartment of the airplane and under no circumstances in the passenger cabin. They must be suitably packed separately and the weight of the ammunition should not exceed 5 kg. The passenger should have all documents required by law and regulations applicable to carriage for the particular state. Bulgaria Air reserves the right to deny carriage of firearms and ammunition.
Hunting rifles and cartridges are regarded as one piece of registered baggage and are charged with one-time fee for service. This type of baggage is not included in the free allowance and the fee is applied regardless of whether the passenger has other checked-in baggage. |
Pets in the passenger cabin /PETC/ | Only dogs and cats are accepted. Bulgaria Air does not accept for carriage live animals to and from Great Britain. If travelling with an animal /dog or cat/, please be advised to contact the airline at the time of purchase of your ticket, because if there is no request in advance, the carriage of the animal may be refused. Maximum weight of pet and cage – up to 8 kg. For flights FB1431/1432 to/from Paris, where operator is Air France, the maximum weight is 6 kg. Maximum dimensions of the cage – 48 x 35 x 22 cm. Pets in the hold /AVIH/ | Only dogs and cats are accepted. Bulgaria Air does not accept for carriage live animals to and from Great Britain. If travelling with an animal /dog or cat/, please be advised to contact the airline at the time of purchase of your ticket, because if there is no request in advance, the carriage of the animal may be refused. No limitation in the weght of the animal. Maximum dimensions of the container – 110 x 65 x 70 cm. Products of animal origin | The import of products of animal origin to the European Union is subject to strict procedures for veterinary and sanitation control. Due to the risk of introducing diseases to the European Union via products of animal origin containing pathogens and causing infectious diseases in animals, the import to the European Union of meat, meat products, milk and dairy products for personal consumption is prohibited. Exceptions are allowed for the following categories of products:
Other quantities of meat and meat products and milk and dairy products may be imported by passengers to the Community only if they:
Meat and meat products and milk and dairy products that do not comply to these rules should be delivered upon arrival at the border for disposal ex officio. The failure to declare such products may result in imposition of a fine or criminal charges. Passengers are entitled to import foods of animal origin other than: meat and meat products and milk and dairy products of weight up to 1 kg, with no requirement for delivery for inspection. |

**Instructions for pets transportation
Damaged baggage
In case of damaged baggage or partial loss of the contents of the baggage you must report upon your arrival to the ‘Baggage Claim’ department at the respective airport and before passing the customs control, where a Damage Report will be prepared.
For the purpose of clarification, the procedure for repair of your damaged baggage requires you to submit a written inquiry by mail to the airline (Bulgaria Air,Complaints and Claims Department,1 Brussels Blvd. Sofia 1540 Bulgaria) or by e-mail: lf@air.bg. You need to submit a scanned Damage report, within 7 days of issuance of the Damager report.
Claims must be accompanied by the following original / scanned documents:
- Damage Report;
- Statement on impossibility of repairs;
- Boarding pass(es);
- Baggage tag(s);
- Bank account / IBAN / SWIFT CODE;
- Claim.
For partner flights involving Bulgaria Air and other partner airlines, other luggage conditions may apply.
Delayed/lost baggage
In case of delayed / lost baggage you must report upon your arrival to the ‘Baggage Claim’ department at the respective airport and before passing the customs control, where a Property Irregularity Report – PIR will be prepared.
You are kindly requested to send your WRITTEN CLAIM accompanied by the required original documents by registered mail with return receipt to the address shown herein below or to the e-mail: lf@air.bg within 21 of issuance of the Property Irregularity Report - PIR.
Claims must be accompanied by the following original documents:
- Property Irregularity Report - PIR;
- Boarding passes;
- Baggage tag(s);
- Receipt for excess baggage fee paid (if any);
- Bank account / IBAN / SWIFT CODE;
- Claim.
